Crossplane 101 & GCP ( GCP Organisation Policy using Upbound Terraform Provider) : Part 2 | by Bhavishya Gupta | Google Cloud - Community | Jun, 2023 | Medium

This blog post is the second part of a series on deploying organization policies in GCP using Terraform crossplane provider. The blog covers the setup of crossplane gcp provider and the implementation of organization policies using crossplane upbound terraform provider on GCP. The post includes sample code for creating a GCS bucket and implementing an organization policy that skips default network creation for new projects. The post also recommends using remote state or the Kubernetes remote state backend to ensure the provider container's /tf directory is not lost as provider-terraform does not persist state. #GCPdeployment #Terraformcrossplane #organizationpolicies #softcorpremium

Has your lift and shift been a clunker in the cloud? | InfoWorld

Has your lift and shift been a clunker in the cloud? | InfoWorld

Many applications that were moved to public clouds without modernization or refactoring are not meeting expectations. These applications are not leveraging cloud-native services and are causing issues such as high costs, performance problems, and security and governance issues. There are options to address these issues, including doing nothing (which is not responsible), partially modernizing the applications by upgrading certain capabilities, or fully modernizing the applications by rebuilding them using containers and leveraging cloud-native services. Each option has its pros and cons, with cost being a major downside for full modernization. However, allowing sub-optimized applications to run on a platform that charges for wasted resources is not serving the business well. #cloudoptimization #modernizationjourney #cloudnativedesign #softcorpremium

Red Hat ends the RHEL clones’ free lunch | InfoWorld

Red Hat ends the RHEL clones’ free lunch | InfoWorld

Red Hat's announcement that CentOS 7 will be end-of-lifed has prompted enterprises to consider their post-CentOS 7 options. Red Hat encourages them to migrate to RHEL in the cloud, but enterprises may consider free RHEL alternatives like AlmaLinux or Rocky Linux. However, these clones may not be viable for commercial use, guarantee compatibility or be able to maintain updates, and may not have the technical expertise to support mission-critical systems. Additionally, Red Hat may no longer publish source code in a manner that allows these organizations to exist without creating their own code. #CentOS7 #RHEL #EnterpriseLinux #softcorpremium

Generative AI with Large Language Models — New Hands-on Course by DeepLearning.AI and AWS | AWS News Blog

Generative AI with Large Language Models — New Hands-on Course by DeepLearning.AI and AWS | AWS News Blog

DeepLearning.AI and AWS have collaborated to create a new hands-on course on Coursera's platform focused on generative AI with large language models (LLMs). Generative AI allows for the creation of new content and ideas, and LLMs have the ability to understand, learn, and generate text that is similar to human-produced text. The course covers the entire project lifecycle of generative AI, including scoping the problem, choosing an LLM, adapting the LLM to specific domains, optimizing the model for deployment, and integrating it into business applications. The course is divided into three weeks of content and includes hands-on labs hosted by AWS. #GenerativeAI #DeepLearning #Coursera #softcorpremium

When low-code and no-code can accelerate app modernization | InfoWorld

When low-code and no-code can accelerate app modernization | InfoWorld

Organizations are looking to modernize legacy applications, break down monolithic application architectures into services, and migrate to public or private cloud infrastructure. However, recent research shows that 79% of application modernization projects fail, leading many CIOs and devops teams to dread resorting to a lift and shift approach. As an alternative, organizations are turning to low-code and no-code platforms to accelerate application modernization. Low-code and no-code platforms can help rebuild legacy applications quickly while addressing their shortcomings, but it's important to partner with stakeholders on evolving business processes and review how low-code and no-code platforms can accelerate development while simplifying ongoing maintenance. #applicationmodernization #lowcodeplatforms #nocodeplatforms #softcorpremium
